Can anyone see what's in your heart?

This semester, I inherited the rather daunting task of teaching philosophy. I took the class 38 years ago, but I’ve slept since then. For me, the term itself conjures up thoughts of the Apostle Paul trying to steer young Christians away from the vain philosophy of the world. The word is a combination of two Greek words meaning “the love of wisdom” (almost everyone got that one right on the first exam). And, as Paul pointed out, the Greeks were always seeking wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:22).
So far, we agree, at least to some degree, that we exist – or at least those of us who “think” exist. Credit...
