An estimated $19,000 raised at South Barber FFA Work Auction

It's never dull when auctioneers Sam Spicer (seated) and Kyle Hughbanks (standing right) volunteer their services for an event. This is at the South Barber FFA Work Auction last week where the chapter officers do their part: (from left) Cody Jahay, Sabrina Hughbanks, Emily Rugg, Anna Perez, Spencer Kimmel and Dale Hoch.

South Barber FFA Advisor Kyle Jacobs said the annual work auction brought in about $19,000 for the chapter. Held last week at the high school in Kiowa, Kansas, supporters from the community came to eat a meal of hamburgers and calf fries served by FFA members.

Then the FFA officers opened the event and FFA freshman Greenhands recited the FFA Creed by memory. Local auctioneers Sam Spicer and Kyle Hughbanks donated their time to auction off each FFA member. As required each youth climbed up on the auction block and bidders bought each FFA member for an eight-hour work day.
