Grant received to train area firefighters

Northwest Technology Center received a volunteer firefighter training grant of $29,968.26 through the State of Oklahoma for the current fiscal year. This money is allotted for training volunteer firefighters Although the classes have to be approved by the state, the local volunteer fire departments are able to determine the training needed for their local fire departments. Northwest Technology Center's Alva campus provided training to 60 firefighters from eight area departments during the last fiscal year. The group completed 696 hours of firefighter training.
