The three Woods County commissioners agreed with Emergency Management Director Ethan Fiedler to get a battery backup power supply for their communications equipment rack at the repeater tower near Circuit Engineering on the west edge of Alva. The $2,000 device will give them 10 to 12 hours of operating time in the event of a power outage. A few days ago, communications were down with that equipment for about an hour when the west side of town was without power.
