From fireworks to rodeos, Alva's third quarter was full of events

Looking back at the third quarter of 2016, we see 4th of July celebrations, thunder and wind storms, the county fair, rodeos, and back to school.

July opened the fiscal year for most governmental bodies. Shelley Reed won the Woods County Clerk seat after defeating Kim Goucher in the Republican primary. Three other county incumbents were unopposed. They were Sheriff Rudy Briggs Jr., County Court Clerk Staci Davey and District 2 Commissioner Randy McMurphy.
The Alva Hospital Authority announced that a new physician would begin seeing patients in August. Dr. Michael Lawrence began on Aug. 11...
