One driver was taken to the hospital following this wreck on Jan. 12 at Oklahoma Boulevard and Ninth Street. Terrence Turner of Alva was driving the vehicle, which flipped on its side after impacting the curb. He refused medical treatment. Jordan Ross of Alva was in the other vehicle and was taken to Share Medical.

Even though one vehicle was flipped on its side, the driver said he didn't required medical attention in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday, Jan. 12, in Alva. The collision occurred at 1:20 p.m. on Oklahoma Boulevard at Ninth Street. However the other driver was taken to the hospital.

According to the police report, Terrence Earl Turner, 83, of Alva in a 2012 GMC was driving north on Ninth Street. Turner said he stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. He did not see anyone coming so began to turn east onto Oklahoma Boulevard.

Jordan Ashley Ross, 29, of Alva was traveling east on Oklahoma in the outside lane. Her 2016 Chevrolet Equinox struck the front driver's side of Turner's vehicle.

A witness said the driver's side of Turner's vehicle came off the ground on impact and struck the curb with the right front tire, causing Turner's vehicle to flip onto the passenger side and slide to a stop.

Ross was taken to Share Medical Center by the Alva EMS. Both vehicles had to be removed by a wrecker service.

Alva Police Officer William Shahan investigated.

Two Collisions, Same Intersection

Two collisions due to slick streets occurred a few hours apart on the same day at the same intersection in Alva.

On Friday, Jan. 6, at 10:10 a.m. there was a two-vehicle wreck on Barnes Avenue at Third Street. Donna Gray Fondren, 64, of Alva was driving a 2012 Chevrolet north on Third Street and preparing to stop for the stop sign. Fondren said she began to slow for the stop and began sliding.

Her vehicle slid into the intersection, and she tried to turn to the right to avoid a 2012 Ford F250 driven by Lonnie L. Hendricks, 63, of Alva. Hendricks tried to maneuver around Fondren's vehicle as it slid but was unable to avoid the collision. The front driver's side of Fondren's vehicle struck the Hendricks vehicle on the passenger side door. Hendricks was driving a City of Alva owned pickup.

The second wreck on Jan. 6 occurred at 2:45 p.m. on Third Street just south of Barnes. Tyler Cole Burton, 21, of Alva was in a 2015 yellow bus owned by the Alva Public Schools. He was stopped at a stop sign facing north.

Wynn Leroy Wade, 51, of Alva was traveling north on Third in a 1997 Chevrolet and began slow. Wade's vehicle started sliding and struck the rear of bus. Wynn's vehicle had to be towed due to damage.

Officer Shahan also worked both of those collisions.
