Tourism Tax Committee to consider funding for car events

Cruises and committee appointments top the agenda for the City of Alva Tourism Tax Committee meeting Wednesday, Feb. 15. The committee meets at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

There are two funding requests on the agenda. Alva’s Crazy Cool Boulevard Cruise is asking for tourism tax funds not to exceed $4,500. The Big Cruise and Car Show is requesting $24,000.

There will be discussion and action on several appointments to the tourism committee’s sub-committee for advertising and promotions. Names submitted are Dr. Charles Tucker of the tourism tax committee, Meagan Caldwell as a citizen representative, Melissa Heaton of Alva Alive, Brenda Hood of Alva Alive, JoDe Bradt of Alva Alive, and Alex Mantz from the City of Alva.

The committee will also discuss and vote on approving minutes from the January meeting and the January 2017 financial report.
