As a young man my dad worked as an iron worker. They put up the steel structure to build tall buildings. He did that work for many years. From time to time he would share about his experience on the job. Iron workers had a bad reputation.

My dad told about a saying among iron workers that they often repeated, “Talk is cheap, but it takes money to buy whiskey.”

Many years later my dad said that he disagreed with that statement. He said, “Whiskey is cheap but talk is very expensive.” Then he would quote what Christ said: “But I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak...
