District Judge Justin Eilers ruled Wednesday recommending a new election be held to determine the winner of Seat 5 on the Freedom Board of Education. In unofficial returns, Raul Galindo received 83 votes to 82 for Shane Morris in the Feb. 14 election.
Morris filed a petition with the Woods County Election Board on Thursday, Feb. 16, citing irregularities in the voting. He stated that one voter was not a resident of the precinct and another was not offered a provisional ballot when he did not have proper identification to vote in person.
