Search in Aline leads to drug charges

 


An Aline man is facing drug charges after law enforcement officers conducted a search of his residence. According to court records, officers served a search warrant at the residence of David Lynn Powell on N. Main in Aline on Feb. 15 at 8:43 p.m.

During the search, a plastic baggie containing a crystalline substance was located in an end table in the living room. The substance was field tested and yielded a positive result for the presence of methamphetamine. A glass smoking pipe with a crystalline residue and a black homemade smoking pipe were also found in the table. Two bottles of synthetic urine and one box containing synthetic urine were found in the master bedroom.

A plastic baggie containing a crystalline substance was located inside a prescription box in the bathroom cabinet. The box had a prescription label bearing the name David Powell. The crystalline substance found in the box field tested positive for methamphetamine. A cut off portion of a plastic bottle containing residue was also located on the top of the cabinet.

The residence is located approximately 689 feet from the Aline-Cleo High School

David Lynn Powell, 27, of Aline has been charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school, a felony punishable by imprisonment up to two years and a fine of up to $2,000. He was also charged with a misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
