Since the Board of Equalization updated the projected budget hole for fiscal year (FY) 2018 last month, there have been lots of facts and figures thrown around about how the Legislature can fill that hole. As a representative, it’s my job to wade through the numbers to ensure they are accurate and not misleading.
The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs (OCPA) put out a list of possible ways to balance the state’s budget. But when you break down the numbers the organization provided, much of the information is disingenuous and won’t actually do much to fill the hole.
