The saga of Sarah Bishop – Part 1

Every community, it seems, has at least one colorful human interest story to tell that is unique to its history.

In an area where New York State borders Connecticut, residents have long been interested in the story of a local woman named Sarah Bishop.

Bishop arrived in Westchester County, New York, in 1780 and died there several years later – in 1809 or 1810. Details of her early life are sketchy and shrouded in mystery. She did not like to talk about her past.

Bishop spent her last three decades on Earth living on a mountain near North Salem, New York, and Ridgefield, Connecticut.
