State Vocal 2017

On Friday, March 31, the Alva High School Mixed Choir headed to Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU), in Shawnee, for the State Vocal Contest. Forty AHS students left Alva at 4 a.m. Friday morning to travel to OBU.

Qualifying for State Vocal is not an easy thing to do. Choirs must score a one (superior) rating during the onstage performance and sight-reading category to qualify. The AHS Mixed Choir has been very lucky to have qualified for State Vocal for the past 16 years. This year Alva took two choirs to compete at state: the Mixed Choir and the Treble (Women’s) Choir.
