April 30, 2017

A man listed as a Waynoka resident is accused of assaulting his mother and causing damage to her home. Dylan Michael Knierim, 24, is charged with a felony of domestic abuse – assault and battery, subsequent offense. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of domestic abuse – assault and battery.

According to court papers, on April 15 about 11:30 p.m. Alva Police Officer Brian File was assisting another officer at a traffic stop when Undersheriff Keith Dale called to report a citizen heard a female screaming for help at 1114 Oklahoma Blvd.

File arrived at the address and contacted Jennifer Blankenship who had been screaming for help. He observed multiple bruises on her upper arms consistent with defensive wounds and a busted lip.

Blankenship said her son, Dylan Michael Knierim, becomes violent every time he drinks alcohol and this wasn’t the first time he had physically assaulted her. She said the assault took place a couple of hours earlier. She said she could not find her cellphone to call 911 so started screaming for help until someone heard her after Knierim, his wife and two children, left. She said they probably went back to their house in Kiowa, Kansas.

File checked the rest of residence. It appeared someone had slammed their fists on the kitchen table. The bedroom door was ripped off its hinges and lying on the floor over a broken mirror that was in pieces. File also saw several blood spots in the living room, kitchen and bedroom.

A criminal history check of Knierim revealed he has multiple domestic assault and battery charges against him and two domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor charges as well.
