Freedom Schools hold talent show

The winner of the class skit category was the seventh-grade presentation of "The Greek Fountains." The production included six students who were dressed in togas and sandals and emulated Greek fountains. Moving gracefully to music Enya's "Only Time," (from left) Hannah Duke, Kaitlynn Rhodes, Jaci Weber, Derrick Galindo, Ariana White and Dreama Jones eloquently spit water at one another in their imitation of Greek fountains.

The Freedom Public School annual talent show on May 9 showcased many talented students. The emcees, Samantha Greer and Nicole Hughes, kept the program running smoothly.

This year's show had 16 acts that included solos, duets and class skits. There were three age groups: pre-K – fourth grade, fifth – eighth grade, and 9 – 12th grade. First through third place received $20, $15 and $10 prizes respectively.

Each age division had at least one classroom skit. The third through fourth grade group did "Basketball versus Trolls," seventh grade performed "Greek Fountains" and 10th graders made up their own skit: "Expectations Versus Reality." The winner of the class presentations was the seventh-grade performance "The Greek Fountains."

Domynik Link dressed up for his performance of Bon Jovi tune "You Give Love a Bad Name." The crowd loved it and Domynik got first place.

Winning in the youngest age group was first-place finisher Domynik Link singing the Bon Jovi number "You Give Love a Bad Name." Second place went to Shay Wilson. She performed a musical number, "How Far I'll Go." Winning third was Jimmie Smith singing the Beach Boys favorite "Barbara Ann."

Placings in the second age group included first-place winners Tamlynn Link and Jaci Weber singing an adapted version of Justin Beiber's "Boyfriend," which they changed to "Girlfriend." Second place went to Dreama Jones who performed "Issues," a song by Julia Michaels.

Placings in the third age group included first-place winners Lance Bolar (who played the guitar) and Casey Luddington. They sang "House of the Rising Sun" as a duet; second place was Khrista McComb who performed a musical number, "Everything's Alright" by Laura Shigihara. Third place was a duet of Ms. Blubaugh and Casey Luddington singing "Brother."
