The 68th annual Capron School Reunion was held Saturday, May 27, at the Alva Moose Lodge. Among the 61 people who attended were former graduates, students, a teacher, family and friends.

Bill Smith, Class of 1957, was president and presided over the meeting, and gave the welcome. Mike Throckmorton, Class of 1968, was vice-president and gave the invocation. A bountiful dinner was prepared by the Alva Moose Lodge and enjoyed by all. All tables were decorated with potted plants and were given as door prizes.

President Smith introduced the honored classes ending in seven. There are no living members of the classes for 1917, 1927 and 1937. The Class of 1947 still has six living members but none were able to be present. The Class of 1957 was represented by Bill Smith, Larry Roberts, Norma Joy (Miller) Gray, and Mary Ann (Hill) Gallon. The remaining four living members did not attend. The Class of 1967 still has six living members, but none were present. Leo Brandt of Alva was the only former teacher attending.

Mike Throckmorton read the names of deceased alumni who have passed since the last banquet: Clfford Schwerdtfeger, Class of 1959; Wanda (Stanford) Kerr, Class of 1951; Leland Morris, Class of 1952; Lydia (Rader) Brewer, Class of 1941; Donna Jean (Olson) Schackenburg, Class of 1951; Preston Pulliam, Class of 1965; Nadine (Kunzman) Keitel, Class of 1948; Lester Corr, Class of 1942; Doris (Quinn) Bails, Class of 1952; Bill Rea, Class of 1944; Xenia (Kunzman) Gallaugher, Class of 1954 and Howard Roberts, Class of 1946.

Eleanor Ring, secretary and treasurer, read the minutes of the last meeting and gave the financial report. She reported the “old Capron trophies” are now in the Capron Rural Fire Department building in Capron. New shelves have been made and are in the building but the trophies are in need of being cleaned and repaired before being placed on the shelves. The current officers were again retained to serve for the coming year of 2018.
