TomTom: a trademark that history will recall as an early GPS that had many followers. That’s a play on words but, for those of us who are map impaired, a godsend. From their website: “Founded in 1991, the Dutch founders remain committed to the business with over 4,700 employees.”
Finding a strong demand for GPS navigation devices, it replaced the radar detector as the most-seen accessory on automobile dashboards and as a hand-held device, and became a must-have for hikers and other adventurers. Original models required keyboard input, but voice activation has become the norm.
