A young woman from North Dakota was injured after being ejected from her vehicle as it rolled three times. The one-vehicle wreck occurred Monday just north of Freedom in Woods County.

Kinzie Burnham, 19, of Bismarck, North Dakota, was transported by Air-Evac to St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm and leg injuries. Burnham and her family just recently moved to Freedom.

Burnham was eastbound on U.S. Highway 64 about 3:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, a tenth of a mile west of Hughes Road and about 2.5 miles north of Freedom. She was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala and exited the roadway to the right for an unknown reason. Burnham attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway when she lost control again, overcorrected and departed the roadway to the right.

The vehicle then entered a broad slide, striking a delineator before rolling three times and coming to rest in the south ditch. Burnham was ejected from the right front window, 34 feet south and 16 feet east of where the vehicle came to rest. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report says she was not wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of wreck is listed as inattentive driving or other distraction inside of the vehicle.

Trooper Randy McCullough investigated, assisted by Woods County Sheriff’s Office.
