Jarden Home Brands is sponsoring award programs during the 2017 Woods County Free Fair, which will be held Sept. 7–9. These awards are given to further stimulate interest in home food preservation.

Jarden, the makers of Ball & Kerr Fresh Preserving Products, is offering 12 coupons for home canning products and home canning guides. The two best exhibits by adults, canned in Ball or Kerr Jars and sealed with Ball or Kerr two-piece vacuum caps, will be selected from each of the following categories: fruits, vegetables, pickled foods and soft spreads. An exhibitor may not enter more than one entry in each class. First-place winners will receive two $5 home canning coupons and one $3 coupon for Ball pectin products. Second-place winners will receive one $5 home canning coupon and one $3 coupon for Ball pectin products.

Youth Premium Food Preservation Awards

To acknowledge youth achievements in the art of home food preservation, Jarden Home Brands is offering one $5 coupon and one $3 coupon toward the purchase of home canning products. The best exhibit submitted by a youth, canned in Ball or Kerr Jars and sealed with Ball or Kerr two-piece vacuum caps, shall be selected from the following classes: fruits, vegetables, pickled foods and soft spreads.

General fair rules apply. Exhibitors may stop by the OSU Extension Center in the Woods County Courthouse for a copy of the fair book with the guidelines.
