I have no idea how my newspaper career came about because we were in the radio business when we moved to Alva.

I was thinking about my childhood the other day and some unique jobs I had and privileges that came my way. Everything I did pointed to a career in electronics and engineering.

Of course, as a kid, I made money mowing other peoples yards. We had an old Reo green and cream colored push lawn mower. I had perhaps half-dozen yards I would regularly mow. Probably at $1 each. About the same time, I had a paper route.

My favorite job as a kid, and I probably started at age 12, was to change the tower light bulbs in the radio tower of my Dad's radio station, KTTR. The tower was about 180 feet tall and...
