Avard Regional Rail Park Authority shows profit

October 12, 2017

The profit and loss sheet for the Avard Regional Rail Park showed income of $70,170 for the third quarter of 2017. The expense side of the ledger showed expenses for development, insurance, mortgages, etc., so that the net ordinary income was negative at -41,664.98.

The balance sheet showed a healthy checking account of $351,892.49, with $123,786 surplus above projected needs.

In other business, the board agreed to pay $575 for permits to enable submission of forms to meet regulations for water sources at the Avard Rail Park.

Randy McMurphy said the commissioners own several RV type lots in Avard and cannot legally rent them as they are not permitted to be in that type of business. McMurphy suggested the commissioners might lease the property at $1 or so per year so that the Avard Rail Authority could create RV sites and could legally rent them out. The idea was tabled until exact legal descriptions can be found for the sites under discussion.

The board approved 2018 meeting dates. The January meeting will be on the 9th. All meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of the month.
