The Patchwork Friends OHCE group met for their regular meeting on Oct. 12 at the home of Dr. Elizabeth Kinzie. Roll call was answered by members Barbara Cue, Dottie Gatz, Prewett, Dee Mason, Janice Litton, Kinzie, Aleta Nolan and Doris White. Devotions were given by the hostess on having a good day. The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved after a correction. The treasurer's report was given. Dues were paid and Pennies and Nickels and Dimes were collected

In old business, a short discussion was held on the Woods County Fair. It was determined that everyone doesn't have an item in the booth. The 2018 Woods County Fair group items will be in the new OHCE Annual Book.

New business included discussion on the recent Fall OHCE Association Meeting. Four Patchwork Friends members won door prizes of beautiful fall signs made by OHCE Woods County Vice President April Decker. Speakers for the evening were Hannah Kornele and Austin Rankin telling about their trip to Washington, DC, and Marian Payne of the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children telling about the opening of the Baby Boutique in the Downtown Mall. Karen Sneary was the Grand Champion winner of the Canning Division at the Woods County Fair. Her mother, Jean Sneary, accepted the traveling plaque award for her.

Prewett reported that Holiday Happenings will be held on Nov. 2 in Fairview. Pre-registration is due Thursday, Oct. 26. Anyone needing a ride should call Gatz or Susan Holliday at the Extension office.

The next leader's lesson will be on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 1:30 p.m. in the Woods County Courthouse on “Keeping Your Mind Active.”

Kinzie gave the lesson on “Making a Salad in a Mason Jar.” She gave each lady a handout on mason jar recipes and the group moved to her kitchen. Each members made a salad to put in the jar with cucumbers, carrots, lettuce, onion and spinach. Each lady took one home thanks to Kinzie.

White gave a mini lesson from a cookbook she had with recipes for mason jars for cakes, cookies, cupcakes and muffins.

Gatz gave a mini lesson on making Halloween and birthday cards. She gave the group envelopes with cards inside and embellishments to use. A picture of the group was taken with their cards.

The meeting adjourned and will meet next month on Nov. 9 at the home of Gatz.
