If your kids have moved on, here's a chance to help neglected kids

Each community has many very responsible people who have successfully raised their own children. Often, these empty nesters can use their experience to help the court system make smart decisions regarding neglected and abused children.

Ashley McDermott, program director for Northwest Oklahoma CASA, spoke to the Alva Kiwanis Club about CASA. The acronym stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates.

CASA recruits volunteers who will undergo training, and after that they will be court-appointed to represent abused and neglected children with active cases in the DHS Deprived system.
