Alva Recreation Authority meets

November 17, 2017

The Alva Recreation Authority met Wednesday evening for their monthly meeting. City Manager Joe Don Dunham was not present, nor was board member Shane Hansen. Without Dunham present, the review of the financial statements went quickly as each board member silently perused them.

The rec park has cash on hand of $322,358.22 in the pooled bank account, and $410,391.08 in certificates of deposit. Total revenue for October was $54,326.32, with a fiscal year total of $217,556.90 out of a projected year-long budget of $637,685.00. The Alva Recreation Complex stands with a profit of $11,013.61 in the fiscal year.

Courtney Nesseralla, park manager, said basketball has been going for the last couple of weeks and is doing well. She said that material for the sun shade roofs for the baseball fields is arriving and she expects work to begin on Friday. She distributed some paint chip samples of the colors to be used for the shades.

An electrical problem that occurred when a score board was moved affected some sprinkler heads on the irrigation system. She said the electrical firm will repair the problem.

All members were present with the exception of Hansen who was downtown being interviewed for a possible Alva School Board seat.
