Cookie rally held and Girl Scout Cookies are here

February 2, 2018

Benelli Green, Fallon Thomas, Emma Eckhardt, Cloé Lee and Dominique Garcia learn about cost of cookies and how to count back change from Leah Maier.

Woods County Girl Scouts held their yearly cookie rally last Saturday to get the scouts all excited about the upcoming sale. During the cookie rally, the girls rotated through different stations learning about the incentives they can earn, learning the cost of the cookies and how to give back change, safety trivia, figuring out how many boxes they need to sell to do an activity, and tasting the cookies so they can tell their customers all about them.

Also this year the scouts did a rotation with Stamp Out Starvation to package food, too. The scouts packaged enough meals to feed 2,160 people.

One of the exciting things the girls learned at cookie rally was that next year the cookie company is changing the pictures on the boxes of cookies. The girls each have an opportunity to be picked to be on a Girl Scout cookie box. They need to send in a picture along with a resume. The company will pick one girl from each age level of Girl Scouting: Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador. he six scouts chosen will get an all-expenses paid trip to New York City for a photo shoot and a chance to unlock unlimited edition Cookie Pro 2018.

Cookies have arrived in Alva! They are unloaded and the scouts have them to sell. Be looking for your local scout to ask you to buy your favorites. Again this year there are eight flavors of cookies: Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-does, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles, S'mores and Toffee-tastics. Cookie booths start on Feb. 16, where the scouts will be selling in front of stores and runs through March 25.

If you would like Girl Scout cookies and don't have a favorite scout to sell to you, give Judy Neilson, the local product sales chair, a call at 580-829-1640 and she will send a scout to your door. Each of the girls have big goals for what they want to do with their proceeds from the sale.
