No. 12 Drury Defeats Harding Women's Tennis, Takanashi Runs Singles Streak to Five Matches

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Harding women's tennis earned a singles point and a doubles point against one of Division II's top teams Friday. No. 12 Drury defeated Harding 7-2 in a match played at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

Harding (4-1) lost for the first time after opening the season with four straight wins. The Lady Bisons play again Saturday in Springfield against Nebraska-Kearney of the MIAA.

At No. 2 doubles, Harding's team of Gabriella Alves and Hana Folse continued its outstanding start to the season with its fifth straight doubles victory. Alves and Folse defeated JiaQing Mo and Julia Schepp, the seventh-ranked doubles team in the Division II Midwest Region, by an 8-0 score. Alves and Folse have combined to win 11 of their 14 doubles matches this season.

Harding's singles point came at No. 3, where Arisa Takanashi took out Viktoriya Zheleva 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 for her fifth consecutive win. She improved to 6-2 in singles matches.
