Woods County Retired Educators Association learns about member benefits

On Feb. 15, the Woods County Retired Educators Association met at Gambinos, where speaker Jeffery Kail, district manager for Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA), shared some of the benefits of being an OREA (Oklahoma Retired Educators Association) member.

The main benefit is the many services available through the AMBA. One function of AMBA is helping present teachers obtain project supports. Teachers present a request for books, technology field trips, etc., then AMBA and Donors Choose work on behalf of the Oklahoma Education Association to gain funding, and Donors Choose orders everything requested and ships directly to the teacher's school.

A very important part of Kail's presentation was the statement that current teachers between the ages of 50 and 60 need to have information about their needs when they retire before they retire. Examples are home health care insurance and long term care insurance. These are less expensive the earlier they are begun than waiting till later after retirement. Kail spoke briefly on many other types of insurances, such as cancer, final expense whole life, term life, and medical air services. Also to be considered were discounts for many services such as hotels, rental cars, cruise, flowers and many others. Kail will come back to WCREA's April meeting, so get your questions ready. He will be more than happy to answer anything you need to ask.

Our next meeting will be March 15 with Kyle Hughbanks, BancCentral Association president. He will talk about the new facility and branch offices.
