All Woods County incumbents file with election board

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, all four Woods County incumbents had filed for re-election. Filing continues until 5 p.m. on Friday.

Filing with the Woods County Election Board on Wednesday were John Smiley, District e Commissioner; David Hamil, District 1 Commissioner; Renetta Benson, Assessor, and David Manning, Treasurer.

According to the Oklahoma Election Board website, numerous candidates have filed for election so far. Frank D. Lucas of Cheyenne has filed for re-election as U.S. Representative for District 3.

Six Republicans, one Democrat and one Libertarian have filed for governor. Republicans filing are Barry Gowdy of Elk City, Ary Richardson of Tulsa, Christopher Barnett of Tulsa, Mick Cornett of Oklahoma City, Dan Fisher of El Reno and Todd G. Lamb of Oklahoma City. Connie Johnson of Forest Park filed as a Democrat and Joe Exotic of Wynnewood filed as a Libertarian.

The Lieutenant Governor race has attracted four candidates so far including Democrat Anastasia A. Pittman of Oklahoma City and Republicans Eddie Fields of Wynona, Dominique DaMon Block of Oklahoma City, and Dana Murphy of Edmond.

Also on Wednesday, Cindy Byrd of Coalgate and Charlie Prater of Edmond filed for State Auditor. Both are Republicans.

Mike Hunter of Edmond filed as a Republican for Attorney General. Randy McDaniel of Edmond, a Republican, filed for State Treasurer.

Joy Hofmeister of Tulsa has filed as a Republican for re-election as Superintendent of Public Instruction. John Cox of Peggs filed for the same position as a Democrat.

Three Republicans have filed for Commissioner of Labor: Keith Swinton of Norman, Cathy Costello of Edmond, and Leslie Osborn of Mustang.

Four candidates have filed for Corporation Commissioner. Filing as Democrats are Ken Reich of Idabel and Beau Williams of Edmond while Brian Bingman and Bob Anthony filed as Republicans.

Justin P. Eilers of Mooreland has filed for re-election as District Judge for District 4, Office 1.

The primary election will be held June 26 with a runoff if needed set for August 28. The general election will be held Nov. 6.
