City council to accept grant for Hatfield Park

April 15, 2018

The Alva City Council will vote on a budget amendment to accept a grant and consider an amendment to the landfill agreement at Monday’s meeting. The council meets at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.

The budget amendment is for a $25,000 grant from Charles Morton Share Foundation to enhance Hatfield Park with electrical outlets. The police department applied for the grant to benefit the Kids and Cops program.

The council will vote for two candidates from a list of nine for the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group.

There will be discussion and action on an amendment to the Red Carpet Landfill Inc. contract that will allow Alva to use the landfill at Meno.

Mayor Kelly Parker will offer the appointment of Chad Fisher to fill a vacancy on the Alva Recreation Board to replace Matt Stratton, who resigned.

An executive session is scheduled to discuss contract negotiations of City Business Manager Joe Don Dunham. Last month the council held the annual evaluation of Dunham. Following return to open session, the council plan to vote on Dunham’s contract.

The Alva Utility Authority and the Alva Economic Development Authority will meet following the council. The utility authority will vote on a change order for the ongoing construction of a 1.5 million gallon water storage tank and booster pump station.
