On Saturday, April 21, the Hawley Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting their 15th Annual Benefit Fish Fry. The meal will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a great meal. The menu includes: deep fried catfish, hush puppies, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and dessert; for the non-fish lovers, chicken strips will be available upon request. Donations will be accepted at the door and all funds will be used to support the ongoing work of the Hawley Fire Department.

The Hawley Fire Department serves as the primary fire response agency for 100 square miles in Western Grant County. The fire department is also an Oklahoma State Certified Emergency Medical Response Agency. They also work with the other fire departments in Grant, Alfalfa and Garfield counties as well as responding to fires in northwest Oklahoma and southern Kansas.

Currently the department has 17 members. Four are nationally certified emergency medical technicians (EMT), four are emergency medical responders, two are Firefighter I certified, and one member is certified in both Advance Critical Incident Stress Management and Peer Support. Parking will be at the church across the street to the east and in the new parking lot just north of the fire department building. The Hawley Trolleys will be transporting our guests.

The Northwest Oklahoma Blood Institute will have their bloodmobile set up at the Hawley Fire Department so that you can donate blood either before or after your meal. Please take a few minutes and help save someone’s life – give blood!
