Act I Theatre musical 'How The West Was Fun'

The ACT I Stars will treat theatre patrons to a glimpse of the wild west on May 31, June 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the musical “How The West Was Fun,” by James L. Seay for Baker's Plays.

Curley (Draven Lehr) and Lobo (Julius Cardonito and Jaylin Scribner) stop by the Red Stocking Dance Hall for some sarsaparilla served by the loveliest girls in the West. Curley falls in love with the beautiful Miss Lilly (Emily Barton and Christina Jenlink), only to discover that she's to marry Sergeant Terwilliger (Joe Parsons and Davin Budy). Heartbroken, Curley sells his gun, his saddle and even his horse to buy some guaranteed love potion from Princess Grinning Fox (Delaney Lambert and Avery Goss) to win the hand of Miss Lilly. Returning to the saloon, he slips the potion into the dance hall sarsaparilla supply, and suddenly all of the dance hall girls fall in love with him.

“These young actors continue to amaze me,” said Director Thamazin Harrison. “The cast has had three short weeks to work on this whimsical western musical that will provide the audience a riot of laughs from sunup to sundown. This is an extra play in our regular season, and will help the ACT I Stars meet their goal of attending a Broadway show in Wichita, Kansas, on July 1, the day after they close their summer performance of 'Mary Poppins.'”
