Wildland fire training held Thursday at the fairgrounds

A large number of those attending the wildland fire training brave Thursday's high winds as heavy equipment operators demonstrate the making of a fire break.

An increase in the number of wildfires and acres burned gives firefighting professionals good reason to prepare better for future wildfire outbreaks. Part of that preparation comes from being equipped with the latest information. Thanks to Oklahoma's Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), first responders get just that. LTAP provides training and technical assistance to local government agencies responsible for the planning, maintenance and construction of transportation systems at the local level.
