Share Medical certified as critical access hospital

Alva's Share Medical Center has been approved as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH). Hospital CEO Kandice Allen received the official notification Friday, Aug. 3. Share Medical will be able to participate in the Medicare program as a CAH with an effective date of July 13, 2018.
Under this certification, Share may operate no more than the 25-inpatient beds for which they are licensed and certified, and for no more than an average of 96 hours per inpatient stay.
The hospital has been working toward this certification for several months. It will improve the rate of reimbursement the hospital receives from Medicare for patients.
