Lightning and love

New Alva Wesleyan Pastor Paul Kirk and his wife, Phebe, have only been in Alva about a month, so they're still finding their roles in Alva and the county.

But just five minutes of conversation with the two will make a couple of things clear.

"I'm a big impact kinda guy," said Paul. "I want to go where the lightning is. I want to go where it's burning."

As a former police officer and member of Red Cross national disaster teams – not to mention 20 years as a Wesleyan pastor – charging in where others might fear to tread may just be second nature to him.
