The Patchwork Friends OHCE group met for their regular August meeting at the home of Janice Litton on Aug. 9. President JoAnne Prewett called the meeting to order. Barbara Cue led the group in the flag salute. Devotions were given by the hostess on “Keeping the Faith.” Roll call was answered to “Do you plan your meals for the week ahead?” Those answering were Mary Barker, Cue, Dottie Gatz, Elizabeth Kinzie, Janice Litton, Dee Mason, Prewett, Maureen Thomas. Minutes of the July meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was given by Mason. Pennies and nickels were collected.

The Woods County Fair will be held Sept. 6–8 and entries were discussed. All the members were reminded of what they were making. Gatz said she had her cards made, Cue showed off her Christmas stocking, Thomas said she has made her recipe of braided bread several times. Two extra pies will be made for the pie sale in the Women's Building on Sept. 6.

Gatz attended the OHCE Board Meeting held in Stillwater last week as a member of the Healthy Living Committee. They worked on goals for the upcoming year.

Members were asked to bring their fair ribbons to the next meeting for a picture for the scrapbook. The president asked the members to bring their dues to the next meeting as they are due Oct. 1. Election of officers will also be held in October. The Fall OHCE Association Meeting will be held on Oct. 1 with the Household Executives OHCE group as hostess. The next leader's lesson will be Aug. 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Woods County Courthouse Conference room.

Doris White gave the lesson “Make-Ahead Freezer Meals.” Handouts including several recipes and useful hints were passed out.

The meeting adjourned and the hostess served dessert. Cue won the door prize. The next meeting of the Patchwork Friends will be on Sept. 13 at of Kinzie’s Craft House.
