The Golbek—Shearer reunion was held at the Alva Senior Citizen Center on Aug. 26. Saturday evening supper was at The Other Place for those from out of town and local ones that wanted to attend and visit early.

This reunion started back in 1954 at the Reuben and Thelma Golbek ranch south of Selmon, Oklahoma, for the celebration of Ernest and Hattie Shearer's 50th wedding anniversary. There were 16 children born to this Shearer family. Three of those sisters, Irene, Hazel and Thelma Shearer, married three Golbek brothers, Otto, Edd and Reuben, who came from a family of 12 children.
