OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State University men's golf team opened their 2018-19 season shooting 291 (+3) and 302 (+14) at the Great American Conference Preview on the Lake Hefner North Course.

Northwestern bested its first round from last season's conference preview tournament by five strokes and finished a total of 17 over par as a team for the day. The Rangers find themselves in eighth place following the completion of two rounds, with Southern Arkansas holding the overnight lead (-25) with a two round total of 551 (275-276).

NWOSU’s five-golfer lineup was sophomore Tyler Berryhill, junior Preston Ewing, sophomore Ben Baker, junior Parker Rehorn and junior Colten Person in respective order.

Senior Collin Stork and freshman Noah Vasquez competed as individuals for the Rangers.

The Tulsa junior, Parker Rehorn, impressed in his season debut, firing a 70 (-2) in the first round and followed up with a second round of 74 (+2) to lead the squad with a two-round total of 144, placing him in a tie for 21st place.

Junior transfer Preston Ewing took time to get acclimated to the Division II competitive atmosphere and followed up a morning round of 74 (+2), with an afternoon round of 73 (+1) to finish in a tie for 31st with a two round total of 147.

Kerrville, Texas, native Ben Baker carded rounds of 74 (+2) and 75 (+3) to finish in 39th place with a total of 149.

Person's total of 153 places him in a tie for 45th place, three strokes ahead of sophomore Tyler Berryhill, who shot rounds of 75 (+3) and 81 (+9) for 53rd place at 156.

Senior Collin Stork shot a 78 (+6) and 77 (+5) to open his senior season after not competing last season due to an injury, while freshman Noah Vasquez began his collegiate career with an 81 (+9) and 78 (+6).

The final day of the tournament will go off tomorrow with the first tee time starting at 8 a.m.
