Now wait just a minute minute! If you are like the infernal grammar checker on Microsoft Word, you probably think I goofed up and randomly repeated a word. I did not! The first “minute” should be pronounced with long vowel sounds and means “very small.” The second “minute” refers to a segment of time lasting 60 seconds. Of course, you could make the argument that a minute is a minute and lasts as long as it lasts, so there’s no such thing as a long minute or a minute minute. Ain’t English fun?
