Alfalfa County commissioners reject bids

October 31, 2018

It was business as usual for commissioners in Alfalfa County Monday morning as the three met for their regularly scheduled meeting. After being called to order, the meeting kicked off in usual fashion with the invocation and flag salute. There was no public discussion generated, prompting officials to dive into their stacks of paperwork. Some time was spent reviewing warrants for payroll, maintenance and operation, and blanket purchase orders. The three men accepted and approved all documents, along with three road crossing permits.

District 1 had two permits totaling $1,000 and a single permit for District 3 totaled $500.

Last week, commissioners opened a couple of sealed bids on two vehicles (a 2003 Chevy pickup and a 1999 IHC 4700 C&C truck) to be procured for the rescue team in Cherokee. They didn’t take action at that time, opting to let the intended users of the vehicles review the specifics. This week, the commissioners unanimously rejected the bids, citing the costs as unacceptable.

Nearing the meeting’s end, the commissioners approved a resolution for disposal on a 1999 310SE John Deere backhoe belonging to District 2 (Inv. # D2 332-205, Serial # RO310SE873783), and a private property access easement for District 2 (for the SW/4 of 20-25-12) to remove trees due to drainage.
