Kiowa City Council holds special meeting for two items

'Retro Bill', D.A.R.E. Safety and Self-Esteem Buddy, to speak in Kiowa Nov. 27

The Kiowa City Council held a special morning meeting on Nov. 1 that lasted nearly 40 minutes. Two items were on the agenda.

One item regarded the D.A.R.E. program the KPD is restarting in South Barber School USD 255. D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. It is an education program that seeks to prevent use of controlled drugs, membership in gangs, and violent behavior.

Due to a cooperative effort of City Administrator Lou Leone and Police Chief Nate Houston, the council approved hiring D.A.R.E. speaker known as “Retro Bill.” He is known as “the official D.A.R.E. safety and self...
