Setting goals for the best education

Members of the strategic planning team meet at the Northwest Technology Center in Alva. Meetings were held Dec. 13 and 14 to determine goals and objectives for the Alva Public Schools.

After an initial phase, the 37 members of the strategic planning team for Alva Public Schools spent Dec. 13 and 14 to further refine goals and objectives. The planning team includes students, teachers, stakeholders and representatives of community organizations and educational institutions.

In January the group will gather again to complete the next phase of the Continuous Strategic Improvement Plan. A complete list of the team members may be seen on the school website at http://www.alvaschools.com under the Strategic Planning tab.

The committee defined four goal areas with two to three objectives for each. They are:

• Goal Area: Curriculum and Instruction

Objective: Master core content

Objective: Increase awareness of career pathways
