LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Police still haven't determined whether an accident or foul play was responsible for a woman's death eight months ago at the Lawrence home of a man who was on probation for abusing another woman he met online.

Sabrina Frock., 27, died May 1 from a head injury at the home of Shane Allen, 33, who she met on an online dating site. Allen has since been returned to jail for violating probation in the previous abuse case, The Lawrence Journal-World reported .

Lawrence police are investigating Frock's death as suspicious but say they have no new leads to determine if she was a crime victim.

Frock's mother, Denise Slaughter, said she suspects foul play and is frustrated by the lack of progress in the investigation.

"I hope they leave the case open and don't close the case, even if it's not going anywhere at this point," said Slaughter, who lived across the street from her daughter in Brookfield, Missouri.

Allen was convicted of convicted of beating a University of Kansas student he met on Tinder in 2016. Prosecutors said he kept the woman against her will for six days and repeatedly abusing her before allowing her to return to her sorority. Allen was placed on probation in that case after pleading no contest to two counts of felony aggravated battery. He was granted probation as part of a deal that included Allen receiving treatment for his methamphetamine addiction.

After Frock's death, Allen's probation was revoked in May for probation violations that included using methamphetamine and failing to complete mental health and substance abuse treatment. Frock's death was not mentioned in the hearing when Allen's probation was revoked.

As part of his probation, Allen was ordered not to engage in any online dating sites. But Frock met Allen on meetme.com, her mother said.

Slaughter said police told her an autopsy determined her daughter died from a brain injury but the coroner ruled whether her death was a homicide or an accident was undetermined.

Lawrence police have not publicly released details about their investigation.

"All current leads for this investigation have been exhausted at this time," Sgt. Amy Rhoads said. "The investigation is considered to be open, however inactive, unless further leads develop."

Rhoads said she couldn't comment on whether Allen was questioned in Frock's death.
