South Barber Homecoming Friday Night

One senior girl to win the crown at coronation during boys' game halftime

One of these senior young women will be crowned the 2019 South Barber Basketball Homecoming Queen this Friday night, Feb. 8, in Kiowa, Kansas, at halftime of the boys game. They are: Bryn Rathgeber (standing), Morgan Polson (seated) and ReAnna Dunlap (kneeling).

Friday night the South Barber Chieftains and Lady Chieftains host Stafford for the 2019 Basketball Homecoming.

Three senior young women are nominated as queen candidates. They are: ReAnna Dunlap, Morgan Polson and Bryn Rathgeber. Senior basketball player Cole Coggins will escort all three candidates. Senior and band member J. T. Farney will escort last year's queen.

The coronation ceremony is at halftime of the varsity boys game. The remainder of the royal court follows.

Class attendants and their escorts are: Juniors – Gam Suphaphat and Gage Cantrell; Sophomores – Kate Pershbacher and Dane Coggins; and Freshmen – Alexis Schultz and Gatlin Jewell.

Kindergarten Helpers are: Girls – Rilee Foster, daughter of Ben and Maggie Foster; and Sofia Mendoza, daughter of Sylvia Mendoza; Boys -- Chisum Howland, son of Desiree Howland and Oren Howland; and Dyson Inman, son of Sammi and Jared Inman.

Meet the SBHS Homecoming Candidates

ReAnna Jo Dunlap is the daughter of Angie Cunningham and Randy Dunlap. She is FFA President, South Central District FFA Sentinel, FCCLA vice president, Yearbook business manager and a member of the South Barber Youth Group, 4-H, forensics, SB CITE Council. She writes for Arable Media and Cimmaron Valley Show Series.

Honors Dunlap has received throughout her high school years include: Student of the Month, Sunflower Girls State, SB Goat Production 2017, Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference, Kansas FFA State Degree, 4th Place Overall Goat Showman for the Cimmaron Valley Show Series, American Goat Association National Show 2nd place in public speaking.

After graduation Dunlap plans to attend Kansas State University and major in agriculture education.

Bryn Elizabeth Rathgeber is the daughter of Brad and Daphne Rathgeber. She is senior class treasurer and a member of FFA. She belongs to the Lady Chieftains volleyball and basketball teams.

Throughout high school Rathgeber received her bronze honor pin and earned a place on the Principal's Honor Roll. Following graduation Rathgeber plans to attend Fort Hays State University and major in nursing.

Morgan Polson is the daughter of Brandi and Clark Thom and David Polson. At SB she is senior class secretary, is in the band and plays on the Lady Chieftains volleyball and basketball teams. She is also in drama and art. She is a member of the SB Youth Group. Polson has earned her Bronze, Silver and Gold Honor Pins and been listed on the Principal's Honor Roll. She was chosen for the 54 Classic All-Tournament basketball team.

Her future plans are to major in education at Kansas State University.
