Fairview swarms the Ladybugs on Senior Night

Alva, Okla. – The Ladybugs struggled to contain Fairview but the team lost Tuesday night 64-42.
It was Senior Night for Alva. The Alva starters for Senior Night were Hallie Durkee (10), Payton Jones (11), JoAnn Turner (20), Stephanie Spellman (21), Zoe Moorman (24).
The Lady Jackets jumped out to a large lead in the first quarter as Fairview ended the first period up 26-7. Fairview converted four three-point shots that helped the team build their lead early on. Lexie Reihm of Fairview led her team in scoring in the first period; she was virtually unstoppable, scoring 11 points. Reihm scored most of her points in post and converting her offensive rebounds into points. Reihm also found the bottom of the net from the three-point line one time.
Payton Jones of the Ladybugs scored all her teams' points in the period. Jones found the basket on a layup attempt and free throw jump shot; Payton also went three of three from the free-throw line.
Alva continued to struggle on offense as the team converted one basket in the quarter by Chloe Durkee. The remainder of Alva's points came from the free-throw line as the team remained aggressive in attacking the inner defense of Fairview. The Lady Jackets continued their dominant offensive output as the team outscored Alva 13-6 in the period.
Maddie Mason led her team's offense with seven in the period. Reihm followed Mason in scoring with four points. The Lady Jackets went into the half with a 39-13 lead.
Alva picked their offense up in the second half as the team outscored Fairview slightly (16-15). Jones and Acacia Charles combined to score 13 of the team's 16 points in the period. Hallie Durkee rounded out scoring in the period for the Ladybugs as she connected from deep.
Like Alva, Fairview was led with a one-two punch in the third period as Mason and Reihm scored 12 of their team's 16 points in the period. The Ladybugs finished the fourth quarter being outscored 13-10.
Stats
Jones led the Bugs in scoring with 19 points, followed by Charles who scored 10 points. Chloe Durkee finished with eight points, six in the fourth quarter from two three-point baskets.
Reihm finished the game with 23 points, followed by Mason who added 15 points.
The Ladybugs will play their next game versus Woodward on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m.
