NWOGS to learn about Dust Bowl days

 


The March meeting of the Northwest Oklahoma Genealogy Society will be held at the Alva Public Library on March 9 at 10 a.m. The program will be “'Dust Bowl Days' told by Mrs. Hendersen of Texas County, Oklahoma,” presented by Rose Blunk. The presentation is based on the book “Letters from the Dust Bowl” by Caroline Henderson. Mrs. Hendersen's story opens the door to understanding the effect the Dust Bowl had on individuals and their families.

According to Ken Burns the Dust Bowl was a decade long natural catastrophe of Biblical proportions. The skies refused their rain, plaques of grasshoppers...
