Wheatland Republican Women get update on proposed legislation

March 10, 2019

Terry Swallow presented the program at the March meeting of the Wheatland Republican Women.

Members of the Wheatland Republican Women held their monthly luncheon meeting on March 6 at The Other Place Restaurant in Alva.

Terry Swallow, who served for over 39 years as a game warden for the Oklahoma Wildlife Department, presented the program. He talked about the various bills being considered by the Oklahoma Legislature dealing with wildlife conservation and proposed changes in hunting laws. He also discussed the regulations concerning the Open Carry Law that goes into effect on Nov. 1. Swallow is currently serving as a reserve deputy for the Woods County Sheriff's Office.

Following the program, the business meeting was called to order. Secretary Ann Shirley read the minutes of the Feb. 6 meeting and Carol Bramlett presented the Treasurer's Report.

The March Community Coffee will not be held due to Spring Break. The April Community Coffee will be held on Friday, April 19, at Share Medical Center. This is an opportunity for members of the public to visit with their senator and representative about legislation of interest to them.

The next meeting of the Wheatland Republican Women will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 3, at The Other Place Restaurant. The winner of the Wheatland Republican Women's scholarship will share her winning essay at this meeting.
