Goldbugs secure dominating win early versus Hennessey

The Alva Goldbugs secure a 12-4 win early on versus Hennessey during their Monday afternoon game.

During the bottom of the first inning, the Goldbugs started hot on offense as the team scored four runs. Dalton Hess scored the first run of the game for the Bugs as he homered to left field.

The Bugs continued to cook on offense as the team scored from an RBI/single from Austin Reed that brought in Dalton Rose. Kaden Slater scored from his third base position due to the Eagles walking Kory Faulkner. Austin Reed scored the fourth run in the inning as he stole home plate during Donald Blalock's at-bat.

Hennesey responded in the third and fourth innings as the team was able to score one run in both innings.

Goldbug Dalton Hess hits a line drive home run to left field, scoring the first run of the game.

At the top of the fourth inning, the Eagles tied the game as the team scored two runs matching Alva's four runs in the game.

The Goldbugs fought back during the bottom of the fourth inning scoring another four runs. At this point in the game the Goldbugs held an 8-4 lead and proceeded to run away with the game.

After shutting down the Eagles during the top of the fifth, Alva went on to score another four runs, which led to the game ending at the bottom of the fifth inning.

Dominic Minjares started the game for the Goldbugs. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out seven batters.

David Moreno started the game for the Eagles. He lasted four innings, allowing nine hits and ten runs, striking out one.

The Goldbugs' next game is on the road Tuesday, April 16, versus Watonga High School.
