Employment contracts and resignations on Alva School Board agenda

Superintendent Tim Argo will be reporting on two resignations during the Alva Board of Education meeting Monday. The board will meet at 5 p.m. in the superintendent’s office at 418 Flynn.

Argo will also update the board on the district’s strategic plan.

Board members will vote on offers of employment to two certified teachers as well as another two-sevenths certified position. They will also consider hiring four applicants for non-certified contracts.

Extra duty assignments will be revised and the board will vote on approving school handbooks for the coming school year.

The board will discuss and vote on three adjunct instructors for the school year. They are Brooke Meyer for anatomy and physiology, Dixie Meyer for two hours of chemistry, and Mary Tyree for one hour of life science.

There will be discussion and action on approving a library media specialist statutory waiver application for Cara Bradt.

An agreement to accept credits from Northwest Technology for students attending Career Tech classes and earning credits in mathematics and/or science will be discussed before board voting.

There will be discussion with possible board action to approve the adoption of the Resolution to Endorse the CCOSA Blended/Virtual Learning Framework that includes standards for high quality blended and virtual education, and to utilize the tenets of the framework in the development of new blended/virtual learning opportunities, or in the assessment of existing blended/virtual learning programs.

The board will be voting on approval of several contracts including the American Fidelity Service contract, the City of Alva School Resource Officer contract, the Oklahoma Department of Career Technology Secondary Career and Technology Program contact, the Big Five Community Services agreement, Education Based Services, U.S. Foods extension agreement, and Hiland Dairy Foods bid for milk and related products.

There will be a vote on approving the Federal Guidelines using the 2019-2020 Paid Lunch Equity price guide for Alva School meals.

An executive session is planned to discuss AEA negotiations with no action planned following return to open session.
