Dan Egner and Neva Ryel will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Oct. 11.

Dan was on leave from the Army, stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, when he and Neva met at a class party and became pen-pals.

Neva graduated from nursing school and the couple was married on Oct. 11, 1969, and spent their honeymoon in Branson, Missouri. They made their first home in Dacoma, later moved to the family farm northwest of Dacoma, and in 2000 they moved to Alva.
