Meth distribution charge filed against Cherokee man

A controlled drug buy has resulted in charges against a man from Cherokee who was living in Alva at the time.

Bernie Scott Stocking, 54, has been charged with distribution of controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine), a felony. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for not more than five years or a fine of up to $20,000, or both.

Court records show Alva Police Officer John Caviness made arrangements with a confidential informant to make the drug purchase from Stocking at his Alva residence earlier this year. Caviness searched the informant and the informant’s vehicle before the buy....
